<description>&#60;p&#62;The race is remarkably tight. Obama's suppporters are enthusiastic and ardent supporters, from the poll results I've seen. McCain supporters are a lot more tepid, mainly because the conservative base doesn't especially embrace McCain, but he's more palatable than Obama. At least some polls (Bliss Institute at The University of Akron -- my employer) show race is less a factor than age in supporting one candidate than the other.
